The pomagranate aroma offers a lot of culinary opportunities with its fruity-bitter and sourish taste. Refine your salad dressings with a fruity note. Create strong-flavoured desserts, pastries and gravies. It also adds that little something to your cocktails, soft drinks and smoothies.

The history of the pomegranate dates back ca. 5000 years ago. It’s uncertain where the fruit came originally but it’s assumed that it’s originally from Western or Central Asia. The pomegranate is also mentioned in the Bible as it’s said to have 613 seeds just as much as the bible has verses in the Old Testament. Even in Greek mythology and in Christian medieval times the pomegranate plays a role again and again: as the food of gods or as a symbol for power and ruler’s virtues on coat of arms or paintings. The pomegranate tree has always been a symbol for love, fertility, youth and beauty. Today the fruit is mainly cultivated in the Mediterranean and the Middle East. During the time of the Spanish Empire the pomegranate emigrated to South America and the Caribbean.
